TAMPA, Florida – Problems with the Florida unemployment system have not subsided months after the first application for COVID-19.
Employees continue to send an email to ABC Action News to let us know about their entitlement status. Some say they are pending and have not received any money.
Jared Green applied in early April and although he could use up his weeks, he is still waiting for the state approval before he can get any money. He says there have been many emotional days for him in the past two months.
“My children should never worry when they eat, they should never worry about the basic needs of life, and so it is my job to relieve my wife and children of this stress,” he said. “Back then I had a lot of those days.”
Others say they have received installments, but checks are suddenly no longer displayed. Many say that federal payments under the CARES law were suddenly stopped.
When we asked the FL DEO about problems with the federal money, the media representatives asked us to send in credentials so that they could check the status of the people.
We have created a new table for people who are having trouble getting their federal payments. click here to add your name. We will send the list to the DEO daily.
Florida Senator Jose Javier Rodriguez, who represents District 37, went to DC on Tuesday to testify before the U.S. Senate Finance Committee to discuss system failures and current Floridian unemployment.
The hearing started at 2:30 a.m., but it is streamed live here.
