TAMPA, Florida – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers join a group of organizations that recognize Juneteenth as a holiday.
The Bucs will close their facilities and offices on Friday, June 19th. The team released a statement on social media, some of which said, “We need to think, acknowledge and strive to achieve collective change in society. While we work together.” In this process, we need to review all ways in which cultural inequalities that have existed for centuries continue to influence racial relationships. “
June 19 is the day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
Companies like Target, Nike, and Twitter have made it a paid vacation for employees.
