TORONTO – The Tampa Bay Lightning even want to play the series against defending champions of the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins.
The Bolts dropped Game 1 after falling 3-2 to the Bruins. Tampa Bay almost came back from 3-0 deficit after a late Victor Hedman goal in the middle of the third half.
In Game 2, Boston drew first blood after a goal from Nick Ritchie in the first half. Shortly after the Bruins’ goal, Blitz believed the game to be a draw until the goal was recalled due to a close offside from Brayden Point.
Blake Coleman finally brought Tampa Bay to the board after a diving goal just under 13 minutes into the first half.

HOW TO GET HERE
The Lightning took second place in the Eastern Conference after finishing second behind the Philadelphia Flyers in the round robin game. Tampa Bay defeated Columbus Blue Jackets, the team that defeated Blitz in five highly competitive games in the first round of the 2019 playoffs.
Tampa Bay finished second in the pandemic-shortened regular season against the Boston Bruins. Although the Bruins finished the regular season with the best record, they finished the round robin game last, so Boston secured the fourth seed in the first round of the playoffs.
The Bruins reached the second round after beating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 in the series.
