After exorcising their playoff demons against the Blue Jackets, the Lightning rode Ondrej Palat’s hot hand and a winning goal in double overtime from Victor Hedman to defeat the Boston Bruins in five games.
Palat enters the Eastern Conference final with a streak of four goals dating back to Game 2 against Boston.
The New York Islanders suspended the conference’s sixth seed after beating the Florida Panthers in four qualifying round games. New York prevailed in the first round in five games against the Washington Capitals and prevailed in seven games against the Philadelphia Flyers to reach the conference finals.
