CLEARWATER, Fla. – Rich Allen loves the Tampa Bay area, especially our weather, water, and stingrays.
The graceful marine animals “only define Tampa Bay,” says Allen.
When the British-born triathlete, who competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, started a new watersports and lifestyle brand, he knew exactly what to call it: Stingrays.
“I wanted to create something that was inspired by Florida and life in Florida,” says Allen.
The Clearwater-based brand sells state-of-the-art open-water wetsuits and inflatable stand-up paddleboards.
Stingray too Partnership with three-time Olympic gold medalist Brooke Bennett on a set of glasses.
Allen says they are “professional products” but at a realistic reduced price for the consumer.
Let’s get back to those stingrays.
Allen spent large parts of his life in the water. When he started Stingray, he knew he wanted to protect his favorite playground.
His company now returns 10 percent of product sales to charities that customers voted on.
Allen also lets his employees spend several paid days a year cleaning beaches and waterways in the Tampa Bay area.
