Polk County Schools releases new information regarding its school COVID-19 cases.
When school started, ABC Action News asked the district how many students were being quarantined. The Polk County District and Health Department would provide us with this information subject to certain state laws.
A new report shows the number of students and staff quarantined from August 24th to September 3rd following a positive case.
During that time, the district had more than 50 cases, including about a dozen at Lakeland High School / Harrison School for the Arts.
The data shows that more than 1,800 employees and students were requested to quarantine between August 24 and September 3.
Due to COVID-19, no entire schools have been asked to close the public school system.
Since September 3, 180 more cases have occurred at Polk County Schools, including charter and private schools.
