president Donald Trump has been “symptom-free” for more than 24 hours as he continues to be treated for the coronavirus at the White House, one of his doctors said in a new memo on Wednesday.
Trump has also been “free of fever for more than 4 days” and has not needed supplemental oxygen since leaving Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday, Dr. Sean Conley, the White House Doctor, in the memo.
“Notably, the president’s labs today showed detectable levels of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies from labs removed on Monday,” added Conley.
Conley’s brief memo did not contain any specific updates on the presidential drug regime. Trump has had numerous treatments since testing positive for the coronavirus last week, including the steroid dexamethasone, antiviral therapy remdesivir, and an antibody cocktail from Regeneron.
The memo, however, contained comments from Trump himself. “The President said this morning, ‘I feel great!'” Conley wrote.
Trump was hospitalized on Friday night, the same day he announced on Twitter that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for Covid-19.
He was released three days later and flown back to the White House on Marine One. The president who may still be contagious raised his eyebrows and drew criticism as he removed the mask he was wearing before entering the White House residence.
Larry Kudlow, Trump’s best economic advisor, refused to tell CNBC whether Trump was wearing a mask when he returned to work.
A growing number of people who work in the White House have also tested positive for Covid-19 following Trump’s diagnosis. The list includes the White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and some of their deputiesas well as several members of the White House press corps.
Some Republican lawmakers who recently attended an event on the Southern White House lawn – which defied some of the recommended social distancing guidelines issued by Trump administration health experts – also tested positive.
After returning from the hospital, Trump revived his active Twitter presence. On Tuesday the President tweeted that he had ordered its aides to halt negotiations with Democrats on an agreement on additional coronavirus stimulus money until after the November 3 elections. The Move stunned Wall Street investors and political experts alike.
