New superhero recruits can experience Disneyland’s Avenger campus on June 4th, Disney said during a webcast at the theme park on Thursday.

The new area is an extension of Disney’s California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, California features Marvel’s most powerful heroes from earth and stars.

“What I can tell you is that it’s great,” Josh D’Amaro told CNBC before the webcast. “I think it’s going to be an incredible addition to California Adventure. When you think of that [Marvel Cinematic Universe] and what happens on this front, first in ‘WandaVision’, is hot. It’s a hot franchise. And now we have the opportunity to open this thing to the world. “

The park was originally scheduled to open in July last year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, California theme parks have been closed since March 2020.

Disney’s two parks in Anaheim will reopen on April 30th and is operated with a starting capacity of approx. 15%.

The new land has taken the place of A Bug’s Land and includes the pre-existing Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout Ride on the edge of Hollywood land. There will also be a new Spider-Man attraction, a dining room called the Pym Particles Test Kitchen, and an area that looks to Dr. Strange based.

“We have the ultimate playground for Marvel,” said D’Amaro. “As fast as Kevin [Feige] and that the Marvel team can create characters and stories, we can incorporate them. “

Disney has already pissed off that the Spider-Man ride is based on the Worldwide Engineering Brigade aka WEB, a company that helps bring superpowers to normal people. The attraction offers guests the opportunity to test their Webslinger vehicle. Little spider bots are unleashed during the ride and you have to snap them up with your new web slinging powers.

Character meet-and-greets will be a huge part of the Avengers campus. Thor, Black Panther, Black Widow, and more will be roaming the country – visitors can catch a glimpse of the trickster Loki too.

D’Amaro teased “over-the-top” entertainment and technological innovation, including the potential to showcase the company’s stuntronics technology in the country. Stuntronics is a project that Disney pulled the curtain back on in 2018. Essentially, Disney’s imagineering team and development lab created a robot that can swing and flip through the air like a real stunt person.

In that case, the robot could look like Marvel’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

“There will only be a pair of glasses,” said D’Amaro. “There will only be things that you can’t believe are happening in front of your eyes.”
